Dreamy Fall Wedding in Western Montana

Kirstyn & Steve actually had two weddings — the first being an epic intimate elopement in the land of fire and ice (Iceland)! But this love-filled October day in the mountains of Montana seemed like the perfect way to celebrate their marriage with family and friends.

When I sit down to write about this day almost two years later, all of the memories come rushing back.. the music I listened to on my three hour drive from Whitefish, the unseasonably warm October air, and of course the stunning background of the Bitterroot mountains. It was my first time shooting a wedding at Little Smith Creek Ranch in Victor, Montana, and I couldn’t have been more excited. The weather was perfect and love was in the air!

Kirstyn and her ladies got ready in a cute little house provided by the venue. It sat atop a hill overlooking the reception area and had a great view of the guys hanging out before the ceremony. Kirstyn and Steve shared a sweet first look on the deck as their moms, siblings, and closest friends watched teary-eyed from the doorway.

The ceremony was beautiful and perfectly-timed as the late-afternoon sun doused the golden hills in dreamy light. The mountains stood towering in the distance as Kirstyn and Steve promised forever to each other in front of their loved ones. The ceremony exit was a hoot as Steve fist pumped and slapped hands with nearly every guest sitting along the aisle. Kirstyn’s smile was a mile wide as Steve grabbed her for one last smooch at the end.

The night continued with heartfelt toasts, a delicious dinner, and beautiful dances. Guests mingled and enjoyed a bonfire and yard games as the sun set behind the mountains. This was one of my favorite weddings I’ve ever captured because Kirstyn and Steve made me feel so welcome! Their love for each other and their community is so strong and wholesome - truly an honor to witness.
