Achin Family Dirt Bike Session

A family photoshoot with dirtbikes?! Helllll Yeah.

When Shayna and Josh contacted me about doing a family photoshoot, I knew I wanted to do something different. Instead of the traditional posed shots, I suggested we capture an activity they love doing together - dirtbiking. They were thrilled with the idea, so we set out to find the perfect location.

We ended up driving up the North Fork, where we found a spot with breathtaking views of Glacier National Park. The weather was perfect - sunny and warm with a slight breeze - and the scenery couldn't have been better. Paisley, their five-year-old daughter, was excited to show off her blue dirtbike and join in the fun.

We started off taking some group shots with all three of them on their bikes, riding along the dirt trail with the mountains in the background. I loved seeing the emotion on their faces as they zipped past me, leaving a trail of dust behind. We also took some photos off the bikes, with Paisley cuddled up on Shayna and Josh’s laps and whispering silly secrets to each other.

Then we focused on the couple shots. Shayna and Josh cracked open some beers while Paisley continued cruising the parking lot on her dirt bike. They chose the perfect outfits to complement the rugged terrain (matching Carharts!!) which made for awesome color coordination. Throughout the shoot, I made sure to capture the candid moments - the laughter, the hugs, the small stuff that make a family unique.

I hope this photoshoot inspires other couples to think outside the box when it comes to their family photos! Including an activity that you love doing together can make the experience more natural and enjoyable. It doesn't have to be dirtbiking - it could be hiking, camping, or even just a picnic in the park. Whatever it is, I guarantee it will make for some unforgettable memories and beautiful photos.
