Summer Flower Field Engagement Photoshoot

Eden & Dylan | Kalispell, Montana

Last summer, I had the pleasure of photographing Eden and Dylan's playful engagement session at Phyllary Farm in Kalispell, Montana. It’s always so special when I get to document these awesome milestones for my friends, and this session definitely left me with a very full cup. These two are absolutely crazy about each other and it shows in every little interaction - from the way they look at each other to the way they speak. It’s an easy love and their happiness feels contagious.

When we first started brainstorming ideas for their engagement photos, Eden mentioned she wanted somewhere with tons of flowers - which led us straight to Althea at Phyllary Farm! We were lucky enough to have the entire flower field to ourselves for over an hour while we frolicked through the colorful aisles. We marveled over the towering sunflowers (not even exaggerating, they were like 15 feet tall) and obsessed over the bright marigolds and sweet little daisies. Dylan and Eden took turns picking flowers for each other and putting them all together in a huge bouquet! Eden also brought along her polaroid camera which they used to playfully snap photos of each other, giggling away like kids.

If you’re looking for couples outfit inspo - look no further! Whenever I bump into Eden and Dylan, whether it’s on the mountain after a long day of snowboarding or in town during a night out, they’re always so stylish. This photoshoot was no exception, of course. Eden wore a simple silk dress with white platform hightop Vans, while Dylan rocked dark jeans and a denim button-up with Vans. The simplicity of their outfits complimented the busy setting so well!

KIND WORDS

“If I could give her 100 stars, I would! Ahlani went above and beyond for our engagement session with our pup, wedding day, and every moment in between. From our first call, I knew I liked her — her charisma, attention to detail, and journalistic style is what sets her apart from the rest. She somehow captured our entire wedding by herself. I didn't know one person could do such a wonderful job totally solo. She didn't miss a moment, even the audibles like me hiding in a van from guests.

I'm still floored at how many photos we got in our gallery. I'll be the first to say I'm not very comfortable in front of a camera, but I didn't feel awkward at all with her!

She sent out a very thorough questionnaire beforehand so she knew exactly what to capture, when, including personal details. For example, I unexpectedly lost my dad 3 months before our big wedding weekend. To honor him and his cookie obsession, we ditched a cake and had friends make homemade cookies for a cookie bar with a picture and poem that I wrote for it. She not only took photos of it (duh, anyone can do that), she brought in flowers, worked with like 5 different angles, and made sure it was 100% perfect — not just anyone would do that... for cookies haha.

I'm extremely grateful for the Instagram rabbithole that lead me to her, and hope that this review helps you decide to put all of your trust in her for your big day, family photos, dog photos, and beyond. You certainly cannot go wrong with Ahlani!”
